Homemade Dishwasher Pods
I was on the hunt for new dishwasher pods and honestly, I was starting to fall out of love with Blueland tabs. I noticed I had to clean my dishwasher more often, which was definitely not ideal!
Then, I stumbled upon an incredible DIY recipe for making my own dishwasher pods, and let me tell you, they work like a charm!
The best part? They’re made with green ingredients, so I can feel good about what I'm using. Plus, they're so simple to whip up that I can even get the kiddos involved in the process.
It’s a fun little project that leaves our dishes sparkling clean!
Steps:
In a bowl mix 1 cup baking soda with 1/4 cup salt.
Add 2 teaspoons of an all natural dish soap (I used Attitude Green Apple), and then enough vinegar to dampen the mixture. Start with 2 tablespoons and mix well.
Add more vinegar until the mixture feels moist (but not wet) and holds together when you compress it between your fingers.
Then pack about one tablespoon of the mix into each opening of your silicone ice cube mold (I used Dinosaur Molds).
Tamp it down really firmly to really pack it in. Now all you need to do is let it dry completely in a warm place.
This will take about 24-48 hours.
Gently remove the pods from the mold and store in a closed container.
